The 2025 Transport Logistic Fair in Munich was more than just an event on the calendar for DFDS. It was an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and explore how we can move logistics forward together. Our goal at the fair was to strengthen relationships with existing and new partners and gain an even better understanding of our customers’ needs. This supports our ability to offer an extensive product portfolio that helps optimise entire supply chains through one seamless, integrated service.

Many of the businesses we spoke with are facing increasing complexity in supply chain management. This is where an integrated, one-stop-shop approach can add real value with specific improvements to the current setup. Fortunately, for many this now also includes low-carbon solutions in addition to simplifying and optimising logistics. So, what does the future of a truly integrated, sustainable supply chain look like?

Unlocking the value of our network

Amid shifting geopolitical dynamics, many of our customers are experiencing major changes in their freight flows. From near-sourcing production within Europe to reconfiguring existing supply chains or responding faster to disruptions, agility is more important than ever. That’s why the workshops at this year’s fair focused on strategies for rapid adaptation and building greater resilience in logistics.

At stand 333 in hall 3, our interactive route map allowed visitors to explore how freight flows can be optimised across DFDS’s extensive Ro-Ro, Ro-Pax, and container network. Discussions focused on improving flow, reducing handovers, and identifying new routing opportunities based on specific business requirements.

"Our ambition for participating in the Transport Logistic Fair in Munich this year was to connect and strengthen relationships with existing and future customers and partners. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase the capabilities of DFDS and illustrate how we can provide both transport and logistic services across the full supply chain. We experience more and more customers requesting full supply chain solutions - a one-stop-shop solution to minimize complexities and inefficiencies in their supply chains. We also experienced a growing interest in our product Decarbonised Solutions and in general an openness to explore how we can partner up to accelerate decarbonisation in the industry." – Kasper Damgaard, VP and Head of Strategic Sales

What are the low-carbon solutions that DFDS offers?

At DFDS, sustainability isn’t just a future ambition – it’s a central part of how we operate today. That is why at this year’s fair we featured the sustainability square, where we invited our partners and visitors to explore how we can accelerate the journey to net zero supply chains, together.

Throughout the event, we hosted focused decarbonisation workshops designed to turn climate goals into concrete action. Many businesses we spoke with are eager to reduce their carbon footprint but often struggle with how to apply low-carbon solutions in a practical, operational way. That’s where our approach comes in.

“Customers' expectations are changing, they are looking to us to be more proactive in how we approach them. We spend a lot of time on really understanding our customers' supply chains and their priorities, and now we have to be even more proactive about coming to them with specific sustainability initiatives." – Oliver Lilley, Head of Business Development and Decarbonised Solutions

During these 30-minute one-on-one sessions, participants worked directly with our team to review current supply chain setups, identify areas with the highest emissions, and begin shaping tailored decarbonisation strategies. By analysing emissions data, we were able to suggest realistic, actionable steps towards more sustainable operations.

Our workshops highlighted low-carbon solutions already in use across DFDS operations, including a growing fleet of electric trucks and the use of biofuels in vessels – both of which can significantly reduce emissions without affecting service quality or reliability. These technologies are not theoretical; they are already delivering measurable emission reductions in real-world logistics operations.

Oliver Lilley, along with Andrea Bettella, our Commercial Developer for Decarbonised Solutions, led these sessions, which proved both constructive and insightful. In close dialogue with customers, they identified key challenges and opportunities for improvement, and most importantly, began outlining practical low-carbon solutions that DFDS can support in implementing.

Focusing on the future

At this year’s fair, DFDS reaffirmed its commitment to delivering logistics solutions that are efficient, sustainable, and fully integrated. Our focus remains on building strategic partnerships that drive meaningful change across the industry.
