The 2025 Transport Logistic fair in Munich, was more than just an event on the calendar for DFDS. It was an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and explore how we can move logistics forward together. Our goal at the fair was to strengthen relationships with both current and new partners, and to gain an even better understanding of our customers’ needs, and in return, how we can support with our large product portfolio to support their entire supply chain with one seamless, integrated service.
Many of the people we spoke to are navigating increasing complexity in their supply chains. That’s where we can make a real difference, with a one-stop-shop model that includes specific improvements to their current setup. Fortunately, for many that now also includes specific low-carbon solutions, in addition to simplifying and optimising logistics. So, what does the future of a truly integrated, sustainable supply chain look like?

Unlocking the value of our network
With shifting geopolitical dynamics, many of our customers are experiencing major changes in their freight flows. Whether it’s the need to near-source production in Europe, reconfigure existing supply chains, or respond faster to disruptions, agility has never been more critical. That’s why the workshops at this year’s fair were focused heavily on how to adapt quickly and make logistics more resilient.
At stand 333, Hall 3, we created an interactive route map that made it easy for visitors to visualise how their freight flows could be optimised across our extensive Ro-Ro, Ro-Pax, and container network. We discussed how to improve flow, reduce handovers, and uncover new routing opportunities tailored to their specific business needs.
"Our ambition for participating in the Transport Logistic Fair in Munich this year was to connect and strengthen relationships with existing and future customers and partners. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase the capabilities of DFDS and illustrate how we can provide both transport and logistic services across the full supply chain. We experience more and more customers requesting full supply chain solutions - a one-stop-shop solution to minimize complexities and inefficiencies in their supply chains. We also experienced a growing interest in our product Decarbonised Solutions and in general an openness to explore how we can partner up to accelerate decarbonisation in the industry" - Kasper Damgaard, VP and Head of Strategic Sales

What are the low-carbon solutions that DFDS offers?
At DFDS, sustainability isn’t just a future ambition, it’s a central part of how we operate today. That’s why, at this year’s fair, we had the Sustainability Square, where we invited our partners and visitors to explore how we can accelerate the journey to net zero supply chains, together.
Throughout the event, we hosted focused decarbonisation workshops designed to turn climate goals into concrete action. Many businesses we spoke with are eager to reduce their carbon footprint but often struggle with how to apply low-carbon solutions in a practical, operational way. That’s where our approach comes in.
“Customers expectations are changing, they are looking to us to be more proactive in how we approach them. We spend a lot of time on really understanding our customer's supply chains and their priorities, and now we have to be even more proactive about coming to them with specific sustainability initiatives." – Oliver Lilley, Head of Business Development and Decarbonised Solutions
During these 30-minute one-on-one sessions, we worked directly with participants to review their current supply chain setups, identify emissions hotspots, and begin developing tailored decarbonisation strategies. By analysing their emissions data, we were able to suggest realistic steps toward more sustainable operations.
Our workshops showcased the low-carbon solutions DFDS is already deploying, including our growing fleet of electric trucks (eTrucks) and our use of biofuels in our vessels, which can significantly cut emissions without compromising service or reliability. These technologies are not just theoretical, they’re already helping customers reduce carbon output in real-world logistics flows.
Oliver, along with Andrea Bettella, our Commercial Developer for Decarbonised Solutions, led these sessions and found them to be both constructive and insightful. Together with customers, they identified key challenges and opportunities for improvement, and most importantly, began mapping out tangible, low-carbon solutions that DFDS can help implement
Focusing on the future
At this year’s fair DFDS reaffirmed its commitment to providing logistics solutions that are efficient, sustainable and integrated. We will keep focusing on building strategic partnerships that brings a real change in the industry.
